Sana’a – The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the University of Science and Technology (UST) organized a ceremony today to honor the winners of the Scientific Research Award, in recognition of their academic excellence and pioneering research contributions that have enriched the University’s research landscape.
During the event, Prof. Al-Qasim Mohammed Abbas, President of the University, delivered a speech congratulating the award recipients and praising their distinguished academic and research achievements, which reflect the high level of competence and excellence demonstrated by the University’s faculty members and researchers.
He emphasized that scientific research represents a fundamental pillar for achieving development and serving society, underscoring UST’s commitment to supporting researchers and providing a stimulating academic environment that fosters creativity and innovation. This, he noted, contributes to enhancing the University’s academic and research standing both locally and internationally.
For his part, Prof. Ibrahim Al-Shaikh, Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, explained that the award aims to promote research excellence and motivate researchers to produce high-quality scientific studies that address community issues and support sustainable development.
The ceremony included an open discussion session, during which participants shared perspectives and proposals on ways to further activate and expand research activities within the University, with the goal of improving the quality of scientific output and strengthening the University’s competitiveness in the research domain.
Participants, in the presence of Prof. Noman Al-Najjar, Vice President of the University, Dr. Fouad Hanash, Secretary General, and the deans of faculties, stressed the importance of engaging postgraduate students more actively in research projects, developing programs to enhance their research skills, and encouraging them to publish their work in reputable international journals and platforms—particularly in global indexing databases such as Scopus and other recognized scientific indexes—thereby reinforcing the University’s research presence regionally and internationally.
