Sana’a – The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Science and Technology (UST), concluded a specialized training course on the maintenance and calibration of medical devices, aimed at developing the technical and practical skills of biomedical equipment students and graduates from UST and other Yemeni universities.
The course, part of the University’s free, high-quality training initiatives, sought to strengthen participants’ capabilities in maintaining and calibrating medical devices in accordance with recognized professional standards.
The program featured a comprehensive training curriculum combining both theoretical and practical components. It included intensive hands-on sessions on testing and calibrating medical monitoring devices using advanced analyzers such as the Patient Monitor Analyzer, Pulse Oximeter Analyzer, and Pressure Device Analyzer.
Participants also carried out practical exercises simulating real-world maintenance and calibration procedures used in healthcare facilities, contributing to the consolidation of scientific concepts and the development of their applied skills.
Over the course of three days, students gained knowledge of testing and calibrating vital signs monitoring devices, pulse oximeters, and pressure measurement devices. They also acquired practical experience that enhances their professional competence and readiness to work in the healthcare sector.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering affirmed that organizing this course is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance engineering education outcomes and bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application, in line with labor market needs and rapid advancements in medical technologies.
At the conclusion of the course, participants expressed their appreciation for the valuable knowledge and hands-on experience gained, emphasizing the importance of such programs in refining their professional skills and preparing them to perform effectively in diverse healthcare environments.
