Sana’a – Minister of Education and Scientific Research Prof. Hassan Al-Saadi has approved the establishment of a centralized Internship Training Center for Dentistry Students in Yemeni universities, to be headquartered at the University of Science and Technology (UST), Main Campus in Sana’a.
The decision comes within the Ministry’s broader efforts to advance practical training programs for dental students and enhance the quality of education and professional preparation, contributing to the development of the scientific and clinical competencies of graduates from dental colleges across Yemen.
The center will be responsible for training and qualifying internship students in the field of dentistry through academic and professional training programs that promote the integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical practice, while contributing to the preparation of highly qualified dental professionals capable of meeting the needs of the healthcare sector.
The decree further underscores the importance of the center in unifying and developing internship training pathways, maximizing the use of available academic and training resources, and aligning training outcomes with labor market demands and contemporary developments in dentistry.
The selection of the University of Science and Technology (UST), Main Campus in Sana’a, as the headquarters for internship training in dentistry carries significant academic and professional importance. The university’s College of Dentistry was established in 1994, making it the first dental college founded in the Republic of Yemen. This distinction reflects the extensive academic and clinical training experience that UST has accumulated over decades in dental education and professional preparation.
Designating UST as a training center for internship students from universities throughout Yemen also recognizes the university’s advanced educational and training capabilities, specialized academic staff, and well-established infrastructure. The move further reinforces UST’s leading role in supporting the development of medical education and enhancing the quality of clinical training for dentistry students across the Republic of Yemen.
