Sana’a – The Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Science and Technology (UST), organized a field visit for second-level students on Monday, August 24, 2026. The visit included the construction site of Nasser Aqeel Trading Factory for the production of locally sourced marble and granite, as well as Amran Ready-Mix Concrete Plant. The activity was part of the College’s commitment to strengthening practical learning and linking theoretical knowledge with real-world applications in construction, production, and industrial work environments.
During their visit to the construction site of Nasser Aqeel Trading Factory, students explored the project’s various components and facilities, including product storage warehouses, the production hall, saw and polishing areas, the gantry crane, and several other facilities associated with the manufacturing process.
The students were also introduced to the Jamkha water filtration tanks and their role within the factory’s water treatment and recycling system. The facility includes two types of tanks: elevated tanks with a height of approximately 10 meters and ground tanks with a depth of around 5 meters.
A key focus of the field visit was on surveying applications. Students learned about ground and wall Bench Marks, surveying point-setting procedures, and leveling operations based on international reference elevations. They also conducted a field surveying exercise covering various sections of the project, verifying levels and dimensions and comparing them with the approved design drawings. This provided them with a valuable opportunity to apply the practical skills and knowledge gained through their surveying coursework.
In the second phase of the visit, the students toured Amran Ready-Mix Concrete Plant, where they observed the stages of ready-mix concrete production, beginning with the preparation and storage of raw materials and the methods used to maintain their quality. They were also introduced to the different types of concrete mixes produced at the plant, including both dry and wet concrete mixtures.
The students further learned about the electronic batching and control system used to produce concrete mixes and regulate component proportions. In addition, they visited the quality control laboratory, where they were introduced to the testing procedures carried out to ensure concrete quality, as well as the various concrete admixtures used to enhance concrete properties and performance.
The visit was supervised by Dr. Mohammed Al-Amoudi and provided an important educational and practical opportunity for students to gain firsthand experience with industrial project implementation, surveying operations, and ready-mix concrete production processes and quality control methods. The experience contributed to the development of their practical skills and strengthened their ability to connect theoretical concepts with field applications.
At the conclusion of the visit, Dr. Mohammed Al-Amoudi, the field visit supervisor, extended his sincere appreciation, on behalf of the College of Engineering, to the management and staff of Nasser Aqeel Trading Factory and Amran Ready-Mix Concrete Plant for their warm reception and for the valuable explanations and guidance they provided regarding the various production and construction processes. He also expressed gratitude for their support in offering students this educational opportunity, which enhances practical learning and bridges academic knowledge with professional practice in construction and production environments.
