Sana’a – The Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance at the University of Science and Technology (UST) organized a training workshop on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, entitled “Preparing Learning Outcomes-Based Examinations and Course Reports Using the Smart Template,” with the participation of program coordinators and quality officers from the University’s colleges.

The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ skills in developing examinations aligned with the intended learning outcomes of academic courses and to strengthen the alignment between learning outcomes and assessment processes. This contributes to improving the effectiveness of measurement and evaluation tools and enhancing the quality of educational outcomes.
The workshop also addressed mechanisms for preparing course reports using the Smart Template and highlighted its importance in documenting and analyzing educational process outcomes. Participants explored ways to utilize assessment data and information to support continuous improvement efforts for academic courses and programs.
The training included several practical topics, including designing examinations based on learning outcomes, the importance of pre- and post-assessment evaluation, and an introduction to the Question Bank Template with an explanation of its components. The workshop also covered Peer Review standards for examinations and the procedures for preparing course reports following the completion of examinations.
The workshop was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Amin Mohammed Al-Kastaban and Eng. Abdullah Qahtan, who presented key concepts and practices related to learning outcomes-based assessment design. They also demonstrated practical applications of the Smart Template in course report preparation, contributing to greater accuracy in assessment processes and improved quality of academic documentation.

This workshop forms part of the ongoing efforts of UST, represented by the Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance, to support academic development, enhance the competencies of academic staff, and promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement in the educational process. These efforts align with the University’s strategic direction toward advancing academic performance and strengthening quality assurance and academic accreditation standards.
