Sana’a – The Department of Laboratories at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Science and Technology organized a field visit for eighth- and ninth-batch female students to the Yemeni Association for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders.
This visit comes within the framework of community service carried out by the University to raise awareness about the importance of pre-marital screening and provide psychological support to patients.
During the visit, the female students listened to an awareness lecture that included an introduction to the disease, its transmission methods, symptoms, types, and treatment options, emphasizing the necessity of pre-marital screening as the safe path to avoid falling into this humanitarian tragedy.
The female students presented gifts to the children suffering from the disease to provide them with psychological support and bring joy to their hearts, and they expressed their appreciation to the Association for its ongoing efforts in providing care and support to patients.
For their part, officials at the Association expressed their thanks to the University of Science and Technology female students for their visit, praising the continuous cooperation between the University and the Association to achieve shared goals in community service.
