Who Is This Program For?

This program is aimed at those who wish to acquire the essential skills in information technology to help them improve their performance in their current jobs and open up opportunities for better career prospects.

  • The International Computer Driving Licence certificate is available to everyone — from companies, institutions, and government departments, to individual computer users.
  • There is no age requirement for applicants to obtain the ICDL certificate.
  • Applicants do not need any prior background in information technology or previous experience in using a computer to apply for the ICDL certificate.

Program Objectives

1 Computer Fundamentals: Enabling the trainee to know the main components of a computer, understand the basics of information technology, and use the essential tasks of the computer and operating system for managing files, organising directories, saving, transferring, and backing up data.
2 Office Applications: Enabling the trainee to master and use word processing applications and work with electronic spreadsheets, and to gain the skill of preparing, designing, and delivering presentations supported by shapes, images, drawings, sound, and video on the computer.
3 Databases: Enabling the trainee to understand the fundamentals of databases and demonstrate the ability to use them in archiving and organising data — including forms, queries, and reports.
4 Internet and Email: Enabling the trainee to use the features of the Internet (search) and to use email for receiving and sending messages and for attaching documents to email messages.
Examinations All examinations are conducted using the automated testing system. Applicants are required to pass seven tests in order to obtain the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) certificate.
