Sana’a – The Graphics and Multimedia Program at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at the University of Science and Technology concluded today its series of scientific seminars organized during the first semester by hosting the fifth and final seminar, titled “Trend Vision.” The seminar explored the phenomenon of trends in graphic design, their impact on designers, their relationship with the labor market and digital platforms, as well as issues related to inspiration and imitation.

The seminar featured three main themes. The first was presented by Mohammed Al-Mishrah, who discussed trends from a labor market perspective, examining the relationship between design trends and market demands, and how designers can keep pace with evolving styles and industry requirements.

In the second theme, Ashraf Al-Khatib addressed the impact of social media on designers, highlighting the role of digital platforms in spreading design trends, shaping visual preferences, and influencing designers’ choices and approaches to widely circulated creative works.

The third theme was presented by Ashraf Al-Qadi, who discussed the distinction between inspiration and imitation. He clarified the boundaries between drawing inspiration from ideas and visual trends and falling into mere replication, emphasizing the importance of preserving a designer’s creative vision and personal identity while staying current with modern developments.

The event also included an interactive entertainment segment related to design trends, providing attendees with an engaging experience that combined academic discussion with interactive participation.

The seminar was attended by Prof. Bilal Al-Fahaidi, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology; Dr. Jawad Al-Hammadi, Coordinator of the Graphics and Multimedia Program; and Dr. Abdulkarim Al-Wosabi, Instructor of the Visual Communication Seminar course, along with a number of faculty members and individuals interested in the field of design.

At the conclusion of the event, speakers and participants were honored in a celebratory atmosphere marking the end of the seminar series.

The organization of “Trend Vision” reflects the Graphics and Multimedia Program’s commitment to enriching students’ educational experience by addressing contemporary design issues and linking academic knowledge with labor market developments and professional practice, thereby enhancing students’ awareness of the challenges and rapidly evolving trends in the field of graphic design.
