Sana’a- The Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering at the University of Science and Technology (UST) today organized a workshop to review and approve the program description document for the Master of Engineering Project Management, as part of the College‘s efforts to develop postgraduate programs and introduce specialized academic programs that respond to labor market requirements and keep pace with the rapid developments in the engineering projects sector.
At the outset of the workshop, held under the patronage of the President of the University, Prof. Al-Qasim Mohammed Abbas, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Mohammed Al-Sharafi, welcomed the participants, appreciating their attendance and contributions to enriching the workshop’s work. He emphasized the importance of completing the procedures for opening the Master of Engineering Project Management program, given its qualitative addition to postgraduate programs and its role in preparing specialized cadres who possess the knowledge and skills necessary to manage engineering projects efficiently according to scientific methods and modern professional practices.
The Dean of the College noted that the introduction of the program comes within the College‘s keenness to align its academic programs with labor market needs and the developments witnessed in the engineering and project management sector, thereby enhancing the quality of higher education outputs and supplying institutions with qualified competencies capable of planning, implementation, follow-up, evaluation, and managing resources and risks in engineering projects.
The workshop included a comprehensive review of the components of the program description document, including the program’s mission and objectives, graduate specifications, learning outcomes, study plan, and academic courses, in addition to discussing the extent to which these components are consistent with quality standards, academic accreditation, professional practice requirements, and labor market needs.
The workshop witnessed discussions and interventions from the cadres of the College of Engineering, with the participation of a number of specialists and representatives of relevant entities and the labor market. These focused on developing the program’s content and enhancing its connection to practical applications and the actual challenges facing the engineering projects sector, ensuring the graduation of specialists capable of dealing with the requirements of modern project management efficiently and competently.
The workshop concluded with a set of developmental observations and proposals regarding the program document, contributing to improving the formulation of its components and enhancing the alignment of the study plan and learning outcomes with professional and academic needs, in preparation for completing the necessary procedures to accredit and open the program.
