Sana’a – As part of its commitment to preparing new students and familiarizing them with the academic environment and educational regulations, the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Science and Technology (UST) – Main Campus organized an orientation meeting for newly admitted students for the 1448 AH academic year (2026/2027). The event aimed to introduce students to their academic journey, university requirements, answer their inquiries, and provide the necessary academic and administrative guidance.
The meeting featured a welcoming and advisory address by Assoc. Prof. Elham Sinan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Head of the Department of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry. She welcomed the new students and introduced them to the faculty, its departments, and the nature of studying dentistry. She also explained the credit-hour system and the study plan, in addition to presenting a range of guidelines and recommendations to help students better understand university life and begin their academic journey on the right path.
For his part, Dr. Ammar Al-Dharahi, the faculty’s Academic Coordinator, provided an overview of the class schedule, courses, and lecture timings. He also explained the mechanisms for academic follow-up and communication, emphasizing the importance of consulting him regarding any academic inquiries or guidance needs.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mohammed Ezzaldeen, the Faculty Registrar, delivered a detailed explanation of registration-related procedures, including course enrollment, monitoring academic status, and regulations concerning course withdrawal, addition, modification, registration, and re-registration. He also shared practical advice and general guidance to help students effectively manage their academic records and university requirements.
The meeting also featured participation from Mr. Fayez Al-Baseer of the Student Affairs Department, who introduced students to the services and extracurricular activities offered by the university. He highlighted the role of Student Affairs in supporting students throughout their academic journey and outlined key services and opportunities available to them.
Students were given the opportunity to raise questions and discuss concerns related to the start of their university studies. These inquiries were addressed by the specialists present, helping enhance students’ readiness and ensuring a clear and confident academic start.
The event was attended by several faculty members, reflecting the Faculty of Dentistry’s commitment to strengthening direct communication with students from the outset of their enrollment and providing them with the guidance and support necessary for success.
This orientation meeting forms part of the Faculty of Dentistry’s ongoing efforts at UST to prepare new students, enhance their awareness of academic, administrative, and student-related matters, and foster a supportive educational environment that enables them to begin their university journey in an organized and effective manner.
