Sana’a – The Scientific Committee of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Science and Technology (UST) organized a free training course for fourth- and fifth-level students entitled “Rubber Dam Isolation.” The course was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Al-Sharafi and aimed to enhance students’ practical and clinical skills while bridging theoretical knowledge with clinical applications.
The three-day course covered both the theoretical and practical aspects of Rubber Dam Isolation. Students were introduced to the concept of rubber dam isolation, its significance in clinical practice, and its role in providing a dry and isolated operating field. The training also highlighted its importance in improving visibility and access to the treatment area, as well as enhancing safety and efficiency during various dental procedures.
This course forms part of the Scientific Committee’s efforts to provide high-quality training programs that contribute to the development of students’ clinical competencies and equip them with practical experience to better prepare them for clinical training and professional practice requirements.
The practical component of the course included hands-on training in the application of the Rubber Dam, familiarization with the instruments and materials used, instruction on selecting and placing the appropriate clamp, and practical implementation of isolation techniques tailored to different clinical cases.
