Sana’a- As part of the University of Science and Technology (UST)‘s orientation towards developing its academic programs and introducing qualitative specializations that keep pace with future requirements, the Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering organized today, Monday, a workshop to review and approve the program description document for the Bachelor of Digital Construction Engineering and Management, under the patronage of the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Al-Qasim Mohammed Abbas.
The Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Mohammed Al-Sharafi, emphasized the importance of the program as a qualitative addition to the College‘s programs, noting that it aims to prepare engineering cadres who combine engineering knowledge with digital and administrative skills, and who are capable of dealing with the requirements of modern construction projects efficiently and professionally.
The workshop’s work focused on reviewing the components of the program document, including the mission and objectives, graduate specifications, learning outcomes, study plan and academic courses, and their alignment with quality standards, academic accreditation, labor market needs, and the rapid developments in the construction sector.
The participants also discussed ways to enhance the applied aspect of the program and to incorporate the latest digital technologies in the construction sector, foremost among them Building Information Modeling (BIM), digital project management systems, and the employment of data and smart technologies in planning, implementation, follow-up, and control.
The workshop witnessed the participation of a number of cadres from the College of Engineering and the Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance at the University, as well as a number of specialists and representatives of relevant entities and the labor market. The discussions addressed ways to enhance the program’s connection to practical applications and the needs of the construction sector, contributing to the preparation of graduates who possess the engineering competence and digital and administrative skills necessary to keep pace with the digital transformation in the construction industry.
The workshop concluded with a number of developmental observations and proposals that would enhance the quality of the program and align its outcomes with academic, professional, and technical requirements, in preparation for completing the necessary procedures to accredit and open the Bachelor of Digital Construction Engineering and Management program.
