Sana’a – The College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Science and Technology (UST) organized an extensive academic orientation meeting on Sunday, August 30, 2026, for newly admitted female students for the 1448 AH academic year. The event was held in the main auditorium of the Female Students’ Campus and was attended by Dr. Abdullah Al-Makhlafi, Dean of the College, vice deans, heads of academic departments, the leadership of the Female Students’ Campus, and academic coordinators.
The meeting was organized as part of the University’s commitment to preparing students for university life and familiarizing them with academic programs, specializations, regulations, and the study and training requirements of medical and health disciplines.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Abdullah Al-Makhlafi welcomed the new students and expressed his pleasure at their joining the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. He wished them a successful and distinguished academic journey and emphasized that pursuing a career in the medical sciences marks the beginning of a professional path that requires commitment, diligence, discipline, and continuous development of knowledge and skills.
Dr. Al-Makhlafi highlighted the significant scientific and humanitarian responsibilities associated with medical and health professions, stressing the vital role healthcare professionals play in serving society and improving the quality of healthcare services. He encouraged students to establish a strong scientific foundation from the outset of their studies and to develop the practical and clinical skills necessary for their future careers.
For their part, the College’s vice deans encouraged students to take full advantage of the educational and training opportunities provided by the University, actively participate in scientific and practical activities, benefit from academic advising services and office hours, and build positive and productive relationships with faculty members. They reaffirmed the College’s commitment to providing a supportive and motivating learning environment that combines academic excellence with practical application.
Medical and health programs at UST continue to attract growing numbers of students due to the University’s strong academic reputation and distinguished standing in medical education. The University also provides a comprehensive learning environment that enables students to integrate academic achievement with practical and clinical training.
This increasing demand reflects the confidence placed in the University’s academic programs and educational services, which contribute to preparing qualified medical and health professionals capable of meeting labor market needs and serving the community effectively.
During the meeting, vice deans and heads of academic departments presented detailed information on medical and health programs, study plans, registration procedures, course requirements, and practical and clinical training components. They also explained the academic regulations, policies, and guidelines that students are expected to understand and follow throughout their academic journey.
The meeting further addressed the importance of attendance, academic discipline, effective time management, and making full use of academic advising and office-hour opportunities. Students were also introduced to the scientific, extracurricular, and support services available to them throughout their studies.
The event witnessed active engagement from the new students, who were given the opportunity to raise questions and seek clarification regarding academic programs, training requirements, and university life.
