Message from the Female Student Affairs Department
The Female Student Affairs Department at the University of Science and Technology seeks to provide distinguished services in the fields of activities, guidance, housing, and general services. It contributes to developing female students’ personalities, abilities, and skills, and to caring for outstanding and talented students, student bodies and leaders, and alumnae — making them qualified and capable of serving the community. This is achieved by providing diverse services and organising various activities and programs, all using modern technologies and administrative methods, with attention to staff, in accordance with quality in performance, honesty, and teamwork, leading to the satisfaction of clients and relevant parties, in line with the mission of the Deanship of the Girls’ Branch and the University Presidency.
Student Housing
Out of the University of Science and Technology’s keenness to provide a safe environment and a calm psychological atmosphere for female students, the University has given special attention to female student housing — from the housing’s proximity to the Girls’ Branch, to the qualified and specialised female staff supervising the housing.
Student Housing Services
- Bedrooms (equipped bed – sponge mattress – wardrobe – small desk and study chair) and equipped kitchens (refrigerator – oven – cabinet).
- Three types of rooms are available (single – double – triple).
- Facilities: prayer room – activity hall – sports games – grocery store – visitors’ lounge.
- Transportation to and from the University.
- Internet.
- Electric generator.
- Delivery service for travelling students.
- 24/7 security guards.
Student Housing Activities
Given the importance of activities in entertaining female students and providing a family atmosphere, many programs and events are held, including:
- Short trips and evening outings + long trips to nearby governorates.
- Evening gatherings.
- Holding celebrations (entertainment – farewell … etc.).
- Cultural and scientific competitions.
- Lectures.
- Visiting various exhibitions.
- Bulletins, brochures, and wall magazines.
- Visiting various charitable institutions.
- Farewell parties for graduates and honouring those active in activities.
- Student counseling that helps female students solve their various problems and raises their awareness on different life matters, through counseling and educational sessions and organising various activities.
Housing Admission Procedures
To apply for housing, the following are required:
- Bring a copy of the secondary school certificate.
- Bring a copy of the student’s personal ID card or passport.
- Bring four personal photographs 4×6.
- Bring a copy of the University enrollment or registration receipt.
- Fill out the university housing admission form.
- Fill out the power-of-attorney form for the student’s legal guardian.
- Fill out the undertaking form for the agent in Yemen.
- A copy of the ID card or passport of both the guardian and the agent.
- A copy of the housing fees receipt.
- Sign the housing regulations and bylaws form.
Student Activities
The beating heart of the University’s life and work, and the meeting point of female students’ non-academic creativity. It opens its doors to every creative student from the moment she enters the University, and nurtures her — polishing her personality in all its aspects and developing her talents in a way that enriches her university experience.

Sports Activities
Sports activities are the vitality and activity of the University, and a station for releasing energy and acquiring skills — fun, play, challenge, competition, and victory.
Sports activities are a schedule from which matches and tournaments flow in basketball, volleyball, and individual and light games.
Friendly matches flow through the stream of the schedule in team and light individual games.
Female students draw from it sports courses in: self-defense, karate, table tennis, badminton, chess, billiards, and physical fitness.
On its banks, everyone who participates in sports activities enjoys — whether a player or a spectator.

Student Counseling
It is a body that aims to help the female student understand herself, recognize her personality, study her capabilities, and identify her problems in light of her education and training — so that she can define her goals and achieve psychological health and personal, educational, professional, and family compatibility.
Key Counseling Tasks
- Helping the female student discover many aspects of her personality.
- Helping the female student relieve psychological stress.
- Helping the female student adapt to the new academic environment.
- Helping the female student solve her various problems (academic, psychological, family, etc.).
- Helping the outstanding and academically struggling female student raise her academic level.
This is done through
- Psychological tests and measures.
- Counseling sessions, programs, and courses.
Services the Counseling Department Provides to Parents
- Submitting reports about the female student (behavioural, academic, etc.).
- Receiving consultations from parents regarding the female student.
- Communicating with the guardian in case of a high absence rate.
- Delivering a thank-you and appreciation letter to the guardian of an outstanding female student.
Alumni Club

Mission
The Alumni Club of the Yemeni University of Science and Technology seeks to strengthen ties and exchange expertise and knowledge with the University’s graduates through continuous communication, and to establish diverse programs and services that enhance belonging to the University and contribution to the community.
Goals
- Enhancing graduates’ belonging to the University.
- Documenting relationships and ties among graduates.
- Building partnerships with clubs and relevant entities.
- Employing the expertise and potential of graduates to serve the community.
- Developing graduates’ skills and knowledge.
Programs
- Holding the University’s general alumni forum.
- Coordinating with companies to employ the University’s graduates through the website.
- Providing special privileges for graduates through the privilege card.
- Continuous communication among the University’s graduates on our website.
- Participating in youth initiatives for community service.
- Holding courses and training programs to qualify the University’s graduates.
- Encouraging the University’s graduates toward scientific research.
Student Services
The Student Services Department seeks to provide integrated services to female students and distinguished services to expatriate students.
It works to develop and improve the service facilities for female students.
It also secures transportation means for female students from the housing to the University and back, or between the University buildings and colleges. It provides transportation for the rest of the female students from their homes to the University and back in an organised manner throughout the academic year.
General Services
Student Services provides book and stationery outlets and photocopying services for course materials. It also provides places for selling meals and fast food.
Health Unit Services
The Health Unit at the Girls’ Branch provides first aid services for female students, sick-leave approval services, and health consultation services.

Services for Expatriate Female Students
Receiving new female students coming to study from outside the country, by welcoming them at the beginning of each academic year. Given the particular circumstances of the female students, the University works on obtaining residence permits for the female students, as well as exit and re-entry visas.
