Program Objectives

The Translation Program aims at:

.Providing the market with qualified translators and interpreters in several walks of life-

.Enhancing the role of translation theory in the academic institutions through theoretical research, seminars and workshops to contribute to the benefits of community- 

.Developing student`s cognitive and practical skills through meeting their needs in terms of enriching their vocabulary and terminology as well as training them conducting their academic research-

.Presenting a community service through a translation center which can serve the society in qualifying translation practitioners as well as doing translation and interpreting for the average citizen, organizations institutions 

:Job Opportunities      

:Student who goes through translation program is expected to fill any of the following job positions    

  • Translator of political texts
  • Translator of economic and commercial texts
  • Translator of literary and social texts
  • Translator of legal texts
  • Translator of scientific and technical texts
  • Translator of linguistic and philosophical texts
  • Interpreter for some of the previous genres
  • Lexicographer

:Program Objectives     

:The program of Applied Linguistics aims at

.Apply the knowledge of theoretical linguistics to facilitate student›s learning of English –

.Apply the knowledge of theoretical linguistics to improve student›s skills of teaching EFL/ ESL- 

.Be able to explain the evaluation of the field of applied linguistics and EFL/ ESL in terms of its historical context- 

  • .Situate the development of the field in terms of concurrent (and historically connected) developments in linguistics, composition, psychology, language teaching, and sociology- 
  • .Demonstrate a variety of social variables influencing language, such as age, gender, region, occupation, social class, ethnic group, and educational background  –  
  • Understand differences between linguistic attitude vs. linguistic fact, prescriptivevs, descriptive rules, and standard vs. non-standard dialects-
