Sana’a — The Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Science and Technology (UST) in Sana’a witnessed on Saturday, February 21, 2026, distinguished scientific discussions for the students’ graduation projects, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Doaa Anwar Ibrahim, the Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Practice, Prof. Dr. Jamil Al-Dhabhani, members of the discussion committees, and a number of faculty members.
The first research project, entitled “Community Pharmacists’ Knowledge and Dispensing Practices of Antipsychotic Medications in Sana’a City,” revealed that the study—which was conducted in the capital Sana’a and included (441) community pharmacists across various districts—demonstrated that pharmacists possess an acceptable level of basic knowledge and generally practice appropriate dispensing methods regarding antipsychotics.
However, the results highlighted notable gaps in advanced clinical understanding, particularly regarding the management of emergency cases related to antipsychotic dispensing, as well as the monitoring of side effects and drug-drug interactions.
The second group discussed a research project entitled “Pharmacy Students’ Knowledge and Attitudes Toward Pharmacogenomics Across Universities in Sana’a City.” The research aimed to assess the level of knowledge and awareness among pharmacy students regarding the concept of pharmacogenomics and its significance in enhancing treatment efficacy and minimizing side effects, in addition to exploring their attitudes toward integrating this modern specialty into academic curricula and future professional practice.
The third group addressed a research project entitled “Evaluation of the Antibacterial Effect of the Ethanolic Extract of Juniperus Plant on Selected Bacterial Strains,” which aimed to investigate the impact of the ethanolic extract of the juniper plant against various types of bacteria.
Meanwhile, the fourth group’s research was titled “Formulation and Evaluation of the Wound-Healing Efficacy of a Cream Prepared from Citrullus Colocynthis (Colocynth) Fruit Extract in Rats,” aiming to assess the efficacy of a cream formulated from colocynth extract in accelerating wound healing.
The discussion committees praised the standard of research presented by the students in terms of scientific methodology, analytical precision, and the quality of recommendations. They also emphasized the significance of studies aimed at discovering new natural substances with therapeutic efficacy and focusing on the needs of the local healthcare community.
