Sana’a – The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the University of Science and Technology (UST) organized a ceremony today to honor the winners of the Scientific Research Award, in recognition of their academic excellence and pioneering research contributions that have supported and advanced the University’s research trajectory.

During the event, the University President, Prof. Al-Qassim Mohammed Abbas, delivered a speech congratulating the award recipients, praising their distinguished academic and research achievements, which reflect the high level of competence and excellence among the University’s faculty members and researchers.
The University President emphasized that scientific research represents a fundamental pillar for achieving development and serving society, highlighting the University’s commitment to supporting researchers and providing an enabling academic environment that fosters creativity and innovation, thereby enhancing the University’s academic and research standing at both local and international levels.
For his part, the Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, explained that the award aims to promote research excellence and motivate researchers to produce high-quality scientific studies that address societal issues and support sustainable development.
The ceremony also featured an open discussion session, during which attendees shared their views and proposals on ways to stimulate and expand scientific research activities at the University, with the aim of improving the quality of research output and increasing the University’s competitiveness in the research field.
Participants, in the presence of the Vice President, Prof. Noman Al-Najjar, the Secretary-General of the University, Dr. Fouad Hanash, and the Deans of the faculties, stressed the importance of activating the research potential of postgraduate students and increasing their involvement in research projects. They also emphasized the need to provide supportive programs to develop research skills and encourage publication in reputable international journals and platforms, particularly global indexing databases such as Scopus and other recognized scientific indexes, thereby strengthening the University’s research presence at both regional and international levels.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the winners were honored and presented with certificates of appreciation and awards as follows:
