Taiz – Under the patronage of Prof. Muadh AbdulSalam, Director of the Taiz-Hawban Branch of the University of Science and Technology (UST), the Department of Oral and Dental Medicine organized a ceremony on Wednesday, 8 Rajab 1446 AH, corresponding to January 8, 2025, to welcome the fifth cohort of Dental Internship Physicians (Class of 2025) and bid farewell to the fourth cohort (Class of 2024).
In his address on behalf of the university, Prof. Muadh AbdulSalam welcomed the new cohort and congratulated the graduating interns, as well as the Head of the Dental Department and the Internship Program Supervisor. He emphasized the significance of the internship program in enhancing professional competencies and refining the practical skills of dental physicians, noting that it represents a crucial stage in preparing graduates to enter the labor market with a high level of competence.
He further explained that the internship program is one of the essential requirements for obtaining professional licensure and fulfilling the prerequisites for admission to postgraduate studies, thereby strengthening graduates’ prospects for achieving their professional aspirations.
Prof. Muadh AbdulSalam reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing an advanced educational environment that meets the highest academic and professional standards. He encouraged the new interns to make the most of this exceptional stage by developing their scientific and practical capabilities and striving for excellence that contributes to advancing the healthcare sector at both the local and international levels.
Concluding his remarks, he reminded both cohorts of the importance of upholding moral, ethical, and humanitarian values, emphasizing that the medical profession is a noble humanitarian mission rather than a means of commercial gain. He wished all participants continued success and prosperity in their future endeavors.
On behalf of the graduating interns, Dr. Khawlah Al-Mazlam delivered a speech expressing her cohort’s joy on this occasion, which, she noted, had strengthened their commitment to their humanitarian profession and enriched their practical experience in delivering healthcare services with professionalism and excellence. She extended gratitude to the university branch leadership, department administration, and internship program supervisors for their support and guidance throughout their academic journey.
Representing the fifth internship cohort, Dr. Ayah Sidqi expressed the new interns’ enthusiasm for this important milestone, describing it as the beginning of a significant chapter in their professional careers. She highlighted the internship program as a vital bridge between academic learning and practical application of the knowledge and skills acquired during their years of study. She also conveyed appreciation, on behalf of her colleagues, to the event organizers and the leadership of the branch, department, and internship program for their continuous support and dedication to students’ success.
The ceremony was attended by Prof. Jameel Hilmi, Head of the Department of Dentistry; Dr. Suleiman Al-Ghouli, Supervisor of the Internship Program; Mohammed Hassan Al-Qairi, Head of Student Affairs; Abdulsalam Qaid, Director of the Center for Consultation and Development at the branch; in addition to a number of faculty members and students from the department.
