Medicine and Surgery Program

About the Program

The Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery program is one of the fundamental pillars upon which the University of Science and Technology was founded since its establishment in 1994, pursuant to Resolution No. (2/94) of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. In its early stages, the program was offered within the College of Medical Sciences, which also included the Dentistry and Pharmacy programs. In 2011, a university resolution was issued to separate these programs into independent colleges, giving rise to the “College of Medicine and Health Sciences,” which has hosted the program since then.
The program has undergone periodic and systematic development processes. The first developmental phase began in 2007 (with 300 credit hours), followed by the second phase in 2014 (with 281 hours). The third phase was completed in 2023, bringing the credit hours to 259, in line with national and international academic accreditation standards.

Graduating distinguished physicians capable of self‑learning and continuous professional development to deliver healthcare that meets the needs of society locally, regionally, and globally, committed to the ethics of the profession through a stimulating educational and research environment and effective partnerships that enhance community health.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will possess the following competencies:

Healthcare Provider: Delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care with efficiency, effectiveness, and safety, within the scope and limits of their defined expertise and within the context of the healthcare system.
Professional: Adhering to ethical, professional, and legal standards, demonstrating commitment to patients, the profession, and society, and attending to their personal safety and lifelong self‑development and professional growth.
Researcher: Using medical knowledge and health research to meet the needs of patients, the healthcare system, and society.
