Sana’a – The Deanship of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Science and Technology (UST) held, today, an expanded meeting for the faculty’s staff members, chaired by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Abdullah Abduh Al‑Mikhlafi.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Al‑Mikhlafi welcomed the attendees and commended their significant efforts in ensuring the success of the educational process at the faculty, which have resulted in consecutive achievements and sustained excellence across various stages and under different circumstances.
The Dean expressed special appreciation to all staff members for their efforts in the successful implementation of the summer semester, which witnessed strong momentum and wide student turnout. He emphasized that this reflects the effectiveness of academic advising as well as sound preparation and execution, stressing the importance of continuing these efforts to ensure its full success.
Dr. Al‑Mikhlafi underscored the need to expedite the renewal of the self‑evaluation study for the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery program in accordance with the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), in preparation for the program’s global accreditation requirements. He noted that the program had previously obtained local accreditation from the Yemeni Academic Accreditation Council as the first program in Yemen to meet WFME standards.
He also directed the swift completion and submission of the self‑evaluation studies for the three health sciences programs—Clinical Nutrition, Medical Laboratories, and Diagnostic Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology—in preparation for obtaining academic accreditation.
The Dean further stressed the importance of exerting maximum efforts to elevate the university’s standing across all fields and enhance its institutional image, while actively participating in scientific and research platforms in a manner that strengthens the university’s global ranking and maintains its leading position.
Dr. Al‑Mukhlafi called on all faculty members to complete and update their profiles on various scientific and research platforms to ensure the university’s improved performance in upcoming evaluations.
The meeting featured an open discussion during which participants expressed their enthusiasm to advance the faculty and its various programs and their commitment to achieving the desired goals, foremost among them obtaining local accreditation for the health sciences programs and international accreditation for the Medicine and Surgery program. The attendees also expressed their appreciation to the university leadership, headed by Prof. Al‑Qasim Mohammed Abbas, President of UST, for the continued support extended to the faculty and its staff.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Mujahid Nassar, Vice Dean for Student Affairs; Dr. Munira Abdulwahab, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs; Dr. Ibrahim Al‑Sabl, Vice Dean for Health Sciences; along with heads of academic departments.
