The visit commenced with a meeting with the Director of the Center, Mr. Mohammed Al-Arafi, who briefed the students on the institution’s mission, target age group, and the programs and services it provides in the areas of care, rehabilitation, education, and psychological, social, and educational guidance. He also highlighted the efforts made to support juvenile residents, rehabilitate them, and facilitate their reintegration into society.
Mr. Al-Arafi expressed his sincere appreciation to the University of Science and Technology, particularly the Dentistry students, for their visit, which he described as being filled with compassion and humanity. He commended the University’s role in strengthening social responsibility, promoting humanitarian values, and serving various segments of society in need of material, psychological, and moral support, especially juvenile children.
The field visit program included a series of awareness sessions delivered by the 29th Cohort Dentistry students. The sessions addressed the importance of oral and dental care, methods of preventing oral diseases, healthy habits that contribute to maintaining the health of teeth and gums, proper toothbrushing techniques, and practical oral health guidance for the children.
At the conclusion of the visit, the students distributed toothbrushes, toothpaste, light meals, symbolic gifts, and toys to the children. The initiative sought to encourage healthy behaviors and bring joy and happiness to the residents.
Dr. Arwa Al-Haj, Chair of the Faculty of Dentistry’s Field Visit Committee, emphasized that such outreach activities reflect the University’s mission of community service and contribute to spreading health awareness among different segments of society. She noted that these visits also provide students with valuable opportunities to apply their theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills through direct field experience, thereby enhancing both their professional competence and humanitarian values.
The visit was conducted within the framework of the Faculty of Dentistry’s field outreach program at UST, which aims to strengthen the Faculty’s role in community service, promote health education, and instill the values of volunteerism and social responsibility among students.
