Sana’a – The Department of Graphic Design and Multimedia at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Science and Technology (UST), launched on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a series of scientific seminars for fourth-year female students. The seminars form part of the department’s graduation requirements and aim to strengthen practical competencies, develop professional skills, and prepare students for effective integration into the labor market.
The department inaugurated the series with a seminar titled “The Compass”, serving as a knowledge-sharing and professional platform that brought together academic expertise and industry practice. The seminar highlighted key challenges and opportunities facing designers in the labor market and presented real-world experiences intended to inspire students and guide them toward building successful professional careers.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Jawad Al-Hammadi, Coordinator of the Graphic Design and Multimedia Program, stated that organizing this series of weekly scientific seminars every Tuesday for more than a month reflects the vision of the department and faculty to enhance the quality of educational outcomes, bridge academic knowledge with practical application, and provide students with direct exposure to professional expertise. He emphasized that such initiatives contribute to preparing highly qualified graduates capable of competing and excelling in the fields of graphic design and multimedia while keeping pace with the rapid developments in the creative industries and digital transformation sectors.
The seminar featured two main sessions that provided a comprehensive perspective on the requirements for success in the fields of graphic design and multimedia.
The first session was delivered by Mr. Zaher Al-Aghbari, CEO of Lamasat Advertising Company and an expert in advertising and marketing, who addressed the concept of building a designer’s professional identity. He stressed the importance of developing a professional identity that reflects a designer’s skills and uniqueness, creating a strong professional portfolio that serves as a gateway to potential clients and employers, and adopting best practices for accessing career opportunities in local, regional, and international design markets. He also highlighted the role of digital platforms in building an effective professional presence.
The second session, titled “Winning Opportunities and Shaping the Future,” was presented by Mr. Ahmed Al-Joulabi, CEO of “A Services” for Design, Advertising, and Media Solutions. His presentation focused on the importance of self-development, enhancing both technical and interpersonal skills, and building professional networks that open new career prospects for graduates. He also shared practical experiences and valuable advice to help emerging designers adapt to the evolving demands of the labor market and transform challenges into opportunities for success and distinction.
The seminar witnessed notable attendance and engagement from faculty members, students, and professionals interested in design and content creation. Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Baidhani, General Manager of “A Services,” enriched the event with insightful observations and practical recommendations beneficial to both male and female graduates.
The program also included interactive and recreational activities that added a vibrant atmosphere to the event.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Prof. Bilal Al-Faheedi, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, together with Dr. Jawad Al-Hammadi, Head of the Department of Graphic Design and Multimedia, and Dr. Abdulkarim Al-Wasabi, instructor of the Visual Communication Seminar course, honored the seminar speakers in recognition of their academic and professional contributions. The organizing student team and all those who contributed to the preparation, organization, and success of the event were also recognized.
The event was attended by a number of faculty members, designers, content creators, students from the program and other universities, as well as parents of the organizing students. Participants commended the high standard of organization and the scientific content of the seminar, emphasizing the importance of such academic activities in developing students’ capabilities and strengthening their connection with professional practice.
