Sana’a – The College of Pharmacy at the University of Science and Technology (UST) organized a scientific seminar today entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Its Applications in Medicine and Drug Discovery.” The seminar was delivered by Aya Khurais, Software Developer and Artificial Intelligence Researcher, in the presence of Prof. Abdullah Al-Jamali, Dean of the College; Prof. Jameel Al-Dhabhani, Vice Dean; faculty members; and undergraduate and master’s students enrolled in the College’s pharmacy programs.
The seminar explored the concept of artificial intelligence and its most prominent applications in the medical and pharmaceutical fields, with particular emphasis on its growing role in advancing healthcare, supporting researchers in drug discovery and development, analyzing medical data, and contributing to more efficient and accurate solutions throughout various stages of treatment and research.
The event aimed to introduce pharmacy students to the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence in medicine and pharmaceuticals, enhance their awareness of the importance of integrating modern technologies into their disciplines, and prepare them to keep pace with the rapid transformations taking place across the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. These efforts are expected to strengthen students’ scientific and research capabilities while opening new avenues for learning and innovation.
The seminar also provided participants with an opportunity to gain insight into practical AI applications and explore their use in scientific research and pharmaceutical practice, fostering greater integration between pharmaceutical knowledge and emerging digital technologies.
