رؤى عادل الغابري.. حكاية النور وعزيمة العبور

Sana’a — In a world where capability is often measured by sight, Roa Adel Al-Ghabri chose to see life through the eye of determination and walk the path of success with the footsteps of persistence.

Although she has not seen the world since her birth, Roa managed to perceive life through the light of willpower, forging a path of excellence and inspiration to write an unparalleled success story, proving that disability can never be a barrier to ambition.

Roa lost her vision in the early months of her life due to complications resulting from her stay in an incubator following her premature birth in the seventh month, where the coldness of the incubator caused retinal detachment in both eyes. Her family suffered a major shock, but little Roa decided to be greater than the circumstance and stronger than the pain.

✦ Excellence Born of Suffering

Since childhood, Roa demonstrated to her family and society that she was different—not through her disability, but through her persistence. She began her educational journey at the Sheikh Fadl Al-Halali Institute for the Blind, later transitioning to public schools, where she faced the challenges of integration with confidence and courage. The journey was not easy, but she managed to overcome looks of astonishment and curious questions, carving out a place for herself among top achievers.

In the 2019–2020 academic year, Roa achieved her first major milestone, securing third place nationwide in the literary high school track. This opened the doors of ambition wide for her and earned her a scholarship to the University of Science and Technology (UST).

✦ At the University: A New Launch Driven by the Light of Willpower

Within the halls of the University of Science and Technology (UST), Roa found a supportive and stimulating environment. She made the most of her scholarship through hard work and diligence, proving her excellence once again in the International Business Administration program until she became one of the top students in her cohort, serving as a true source of inspiration both inside and outside the campus.

Roa stood as an exemplary student capable of overcoming challenges and achieving aspirations, not only through academics but also through active participation, engagement in training and qualification courses—including her pursuit of studying TOEFL—and involvement in human development and computer programs.

✦ Family and Community Support

Roa would not have reached where she is today without the immense support of her family, who believed in her from the very beginning and never treated her as visually impaired, but rather as a normal young woman capable of success. Furthermore, the Al-Aman Association for the Care of Visually Impaired Women played a pivotal role in her educational journey, providing her with study supplies, psychological and moral support, and easing all obstacles across her various stages of study.

✦ Roa’s Message

Today, Roa Al-Ghabri stands at a new milestone of brilliance, carrying a message of hope to anyone facing a similar circumstance:

“Arm yourselves with determination, and do not let despair steal your dreams. True disability lies in surrender, not in the body.”

✦ Roa represents a luminous model that embodies the commitment of the University of Science and Technology (UST) to embracing promising talents and crafting exceptional success stories that begin from within—from willpower and the belief in the capacity for change.

Stories like Roa’s remind us that excellence is not measured by physical capabilities, but by an unconquerable will. From the University of Science and Technology (UST), Roa has graduated… but she will forever remain a source of inspiration to all who believe that a dream is possible.
