رحلة علمية المختبرات إلى المركز الوطني

Al-Hodeidah- Under the patronage of the Director of the University of Science and Technology (UST) – Al-Hodeidah Branch, Prof Mohammed Al-Laima, the Department of Laboratories organized a scientific trip for fourth-level students to the National Center for Central Laboratories, as part of the Department‘s keenness to enhance the practical aspect, link theoretical knowledge with practical practice, and equip students with experiences and skills that align with the requirements of modern laboratory work.

The trip aimed to introduce students to modern technologies used in the field of molecular biology and laboratory diagnostics; to learn about the mechanism of the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique and the stages of conducting molecular tests; to review the diagnostic applications of PCR technology and its role in detecting many diseases; and to enhance the practical aspect among students and transform academic knowledge into realistic applied skills.

The visit included the PCR Unit, where the students received a scientific and practical explanation about the mechanism of conducting molecular tests and the basic steps followed inside the laboratory, which contributed to expanding their horizons and enhancing their understanding of the Advanced Molecular Biology course.

The trip was supervised by Dr Haitham Hassan, Professor of Advanced Molecular Biology.

At the conclusion of this visit, the Department of Laboratories extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Director of the National Center for Central Laboratories, Dr Essam Sultan, and to all members and staff of the Center, for the good reception, cooperation, and efforts exerted in making this scientific visit a success, and for providing students with the opportunity to closely learn about the laboratory work environment and modern technologies in the field of molecular diagnostics.
