Ibb – Tuesday, 15 September 2026 — The Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance at the University of Science and Technology organized today, Tuesday, a training workshop entitled “Preparing Learning Outcomes-Based Exams and Course Reports Using the Smart Template,” targeting faculty members at the University Branch in Ibb Governorate, under the generous patronage of Prof. Dr. Al-Qasim Mohammed Abbas, President of the University.
The workshop comes within the framework of attention to developing academic and assessment practices and enhancing the application of quality standards in preparing exams and course reports, in a way that contributes to supporting the educational process and raising the level of educational outputs.
Preparing Learning Outcomes-Based Exams
The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Amin Al-Kastaban, Dean of Development and Quality Assurance at the University’s Main Center in Sana’a, in the presence of the Director of the University Branch, Dr. Makram Al-Jamali, the Deputy Director of the Branch, Dr. Badr Al-Farah, the Head of the Development and Quality Unit at the Branch, Dr. Yousef Shaddad, along with heads of scientific departments and faculty members.
The workshop focused on the applied aspect of preparing learning outcomes-based exams, by addressing a set of axes related to designing exams and measuring the extent to which the objectives and learning outcomes of courses are achieved.
Axes of the Exam Preparation Workshop
The workshop included a number of applied axes aimed at raising the quality of the educational and assessment process, including:

The workshop addressed the mechanism of building exams according to learning outcomes, with emphasis on the importance of linking exam questions to the course’s educational objectives.
This aspect is considered one of the fundamental axes addressed by the workshop, as focus was placed on the applied side in designing questions that help measure the extent to which the targeted course outcomes are achieved, thereby enhancing the consistency of the assessment process with educational objectives.
The workshop also addressed the importance of pre- and post-assessment of exams and its role in measuring the extent to which outcomes are achieved, supporting the process of analyzing results and benefiting from them in developing the educational process.
Question Bank Template and Peer Review
The workshop also featured an introduction to the Question Bank Template, with a detailed explanation of its items and how to use it, helping faculty members deal with the template in an organized manner when preparing questions.
It also addressed the criteria for peer review of exams (Peer Review) and their importance in ensuring exam quality, by reviewing exams according to specific standards before their approval.
This axis represents an important aspect of the academic quality system on which the workshop focused, along with other axes related to designing exams, analyzing their results, and preparing course reports.
Preparing the Course Report Using the Smart Template
The workshop devoted an axis to the mechanism of preparing the course report after the exams, according to the approved forms, within the context of integration between the assessment process and the preparation of academic reports related to courses.
The workshop’s title also carried an applied aspect related to the use of the Smart Template, enabling faculty members to learn how to deal with the tools and forms used in preparing exams and course reports.
Faculty Members’ Interaction with the Workshop Axes
The workshop witnessed interaction and open discussion between participants and the trainer on the challenges facing faculty members in preparing exams and course reports.
The discussion addressed a number of practical observations and challenges related to these aspects, with practical proposals offered to address them, enhancing the benefit of the workshop and making its axes more closely linked to actual academic practices.
The discussion also gave participants the opportunity to raise inquiries and discuss applied aspects related to learning outcomes, exam building, peer review, and the preparation of course reports.
Objectives of the Learning Outcomes-Based Exam Preparation Workshop

The Branch Administration affirmed its keenness to continue holding such qualitative workshops in cooperation with the Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance at the Main Center, in belief in the importance of continuous training and qualification for its academic staff.
The organization of the Learning Outcomes-Based Exam Preparation workshop comes within this orientation, by enhancing cooperation between the Branch and the Main Center in the field of development and quality assurance, and supporting faculty members with practices and tools that contribute to improving the educational and assessment process.
