PhD program in Business Administration

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Program in Business Administration (Dissertation‑Based System) is one of the graduate programs offered by the University of Science and Technology (UST). Based on the decision of the Prime Minister No. (141) of 2020, this document—entitled “Program Description of the Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration”—has been prepared to provide an accurate and comprehensive description of the program’s core mission, objectives, and the intended learning outcomes expected to be achieved upon completion of the program requirements.

The document also outlines the graduate attributes and program learning outcomes, which have been developed in accordance with a set of academic, professional, and benchmark determinants, drawing on a number of reference frameworks and comparable programs at local, regional, and international universities. In addition, the document presents the main learning domains of the program, as well as the stages of dissertation preparation, based on a set of indicators and standards designed to ensure the quality of program outcomes. Furthermore, it includes the learning strategies and assessment methods that support the achievement of the intended learning outcomes.
The following section provides an overview of the Program Description of the Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration.

Since its launch in 2014, the program has been recognized as a leading initiative in preparing leadership cadres with strong strategic analysis capabilities. The PhD program of Business Administration at the University of Science and Technology (UST) takes pride in having graduated 46 leaders who are now contributing to the development of major institutions.

The program seeks to qualify distinguished academic and research competencies in business administration that meet the needs of various educational, research, and institutional sectors at the local and regional levels, and contribute to strengthening sustainable development. This is achieved through qualified academic staff, a stimulating educational environment that fosters creativity, modern methodologies, and effective partnerships, in accordance with quality assurance standards and academic accreditation requirements.

  1. Successfully completing the courses of the approved study plan (if applicable).
  2. Fulfilling the research publication requirements.
  3. Successfully passing the doctoral dissertation defense.
  4. Submitting the required bound copies of the research dissertation.
  5. Successfully passing the English language proficiency examination.
  6. Completing all procedures for awarding the degree as approved by the Graduate Studies Committee, the Graduate Studies Council, and the University Council.
