This course provides a basic introduction to the principles, methods, and techniques of empirical social research. Topics include the fundamentals of the scientific method and scientific inquiry, ethical considerations in research, basic methods of quantitative and qualitative data collection, and strengths and weaknesses of various data collection methods.

Participants will use these theoretical underpinnings to begin critically review literature relevant to their field or interests and determine how research findings are useful in informing their understanding of their profession. The course is designed to make students a more informed of scientific research through discussion, analysis, and hands-on practice.

This course is delivered through a combination discussion-based lectures and directed assignments.

2 MPH02 Biostatistics Biostatistics MPH02

Biostatistics course deal essentially with the concepts of statistical reasoning as applied to the study of health, clinical, and pharmacy problems. The topics that will be covered through this course are descriptive statistics, data presentation, normal distribution & standard normal distribution, confidence interval & standard error, hypothesis testing, tests of significance, correlation and simple regression, ANOVA & nonparametric tests, and SPSS.

The concepts of research methodology should be studied in parallel of this course. This course is primarily taught through series of instructor-student interactive lectures, seminars, and assignments.

3 MPC01 Pharmacology Pharmacology MPC01

This course is designed to provide the student with knowledge in pharmacology. In this course the student learn introduction on the principles of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, adverse effects and drug interaction. The course apply the pharmacological knowledge of basic and clinical drugs used in cardiovascular disease, hematological disease, immunotherapy and pharmacogenomics, with emphasizing on up-to-date informations.
