To become one of the leading programs locally and distinguished regionally and intentionally in the field of translation.

Program Mission:

Translation Program aims at developing the relevant life-long theoretical, practical and analytic competencies in the field of translation, equipping students with skills for producing high quality translation and research, and providing the society with consultation and training services that contribute to the development of the nation and meet the requirements of the local, regional and international labor markets through professional academic and administrative cadre.

Program Goals:

The Translation program aims to:

promote translation from English into Arabic and vice versa in different spheres of knowledge.

Introduce students with the key concepts of the academic discipline of translation studies and research.

Promote critical thinking on language use and translation.

produce well-qualified translators able to meet to of labor market demand.

enhance students’ awareness of the relationship between culture and translation, and the cross-cultural differences and similarities between English and Arabic.

equipping students with general and personal skills such as carrying out academic research, using electronic resources, doing oral presentation and managing translation projects.

A – Knowledge and Understanding:

The basic knowledge that can be demonstrated by students are:

A1: define different translation theories and approaches based on linguistic and cultural competence.

A2: show awareness of range of technologies used by professional translators.

A3: list steps for conducting professional research in translation.

A4: demonstrate understanding of similarities and differences between English and Arabic when translating various specialized texts.

B-Intellectual Skills:

The basic knowledge that can be demonstrated by students are

B1: assess contrasting linguistics and translation theories in translation.

B2: critically, evaluate translation research and recognize problematic areas in different texts.

B3: decide on research topics in translation and appropriate methodology required.

B4: recognize the appropriate techniques of oral and writing skills English and Arabic.

C – Professional and Practical Skills:

The basic knowledge that can be demonstrated by students are:

C1: produce high quality translation that contributes to the development of translation and Arabization movement.

C2: utilize translation strategies and techniques to produce professional translation of different texts.

C3: conduct high-quality research following academic and professional standards.

C4: collect and utilize sources, and finalize translation to meet academic and professional needs.

C5: communicate effectively through translating from English into Arabic and vice versa.

D- General Skills:

The basic knowledge that can be demonstrated by students are:

D1: work independently and in groups with strong self-direction to fulfill assigned tasks and serve community.

D2: gather information from traditional and electronic sources.

D3: plan, organize, and develop projects with due attention to time and resources management.
