Program Mission:
The master program in clinical dentistry/ oral surgery and dental implantology intents to develop student’s academic and research skills, and to improve dental community services.

Program Goals:
The program aims to:
1- Refresh and enhance the students’ knowledge of basic science important to Oral Surgery and Dental Implantology.
2- Acquire advance knowledge and clinical skills of different advanced surgical procedures of oral perioral areas.
3- Learn how to manage advanced cases of dental implantology.
4- Develop research skills in terms of: planning, conducting, evaluating and reporting the results of investigations.

 

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) classify into:

A. Knowledge and Understanding

The student will be able to:

A1. Demonstrate understanding of advanced and recent knowledge in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

A2. Show knowledge and understanding of the bio-medical, para-clinical, clinical and behavioral related to Oral Surgery and Dental Implantology..

A3. Recognize the fundamental principles, ethics, and research methodology in Oral Surgery and Dental Implantology field.

A4. Identify the modern scientific developments and new surgical methods related to surgical managements of oral lesions.

B. Intellectual Skills

The student will be able to:

B1. Analyze critically knowledge of basic sciences scientific literature relevant to Oral Surgery and Dental Implantology.

B2. Evaluate the effect of treatment on the practical and/or clinical competencies necessary to carry out appropriate management of oral surgical conditions.

B3. Conduct research with clear ability to appraise scientific papers and write research reports adhering to the appropriate ethical considerations.

B4. Formulate research problems related to oral surgery and dental implantology using the scientific methods and modern developments in dental surgery field.

C. Professional and Practical Skills

The student will be able to:

C1. Use adequate professional basic skills and recent advances in performing various surgical procedures to manage oral lesions, dental implantology with bone interventions and augmentation.

C2. Employ the appropriated clinical examinations using contemporary concepts, techniques and materials used in the diagnosis and treatment planning of patients requiring surgical interventions.

C3. Apply standard visual, technical and manual examinations with evaluation and development the techniques used in the field of specialty.

C4. Explore at depth a specific research area and write a dissertation on the subject applying high moral and ethical standards while carrying out human or animal research.

D. General Skills

The student will be able to:

D1. Manage time and communicate effectively using a variety of formats and a range of information sources.

D2. Work effectively alone (e.g. on assignments or during the project) and as part of a team (e.g. in group work, during group discussions and workshops).

D3. Develop the skills required for continuing self-managed professional development and learning.

D4. Respect the ethical issues related to the scientific researches.
