Taiz-Al Hawban – Under the patronage and attendance of Prof. Muath Abdul-Salam, Director of the Taiz Branch of the University of Science and Technology, and as part of the graduation research and project defense activities across various departments and disciplines, the public defense sessions for graduation research projects in the Department of Medical Laboratories commenced on Wednesday morning, 27 Sha’ban 1446 AH, corresponding to 26 February 2025, for students expected to graduate in the current academic year 1446 AH / 2024-2025.
During the opening session, Dr. Kamal Al-Yousifi, Head of the Department, welcomed the Branch Director and the members of the supervision and examination committee and congratulated the students on reaching this important milestone following their four-year academic journey.
The public defense sessions then began under the chairmanship of Dr. Mukhtar Al-Hammadi, with Dr. Kamal Al-Yousifi and Dr. Abdulbasit Al-Sawaf serving as committee members. Three research projects presented by three research groups were discussed, addressing key areas within the field of medical laboratories.
The research projects included:
- “The Effect of Cupping Therapy on Certain Hematological and Biochemical Parameters.”
- “A Study of the Seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii Among Pregnant Women in the Governorates of Ibb and Taiz.”
- “The Impact of Smoking on Cardiovascular Diseases Among a Sample of Yemeni Individuals in the Al Hawban Area of Taiz City.”
It is worth noting that the public defense of graduation research and projects is an annual practice at the University of Science and Technology and its branches. In addition to its academic significance and its role as a graduation requirement across various disciplines, it enables students to develop presentation and communication skills, enhance their confidence in responding to questions and discussions, and prepare them for the research and defense requirements of master’s and doctoral studies.
