Sana’a – The Graphic Design and Multimedia Program at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Science and Technology (UST), organized a scientific seminar today entitled “Tech Nano”, dedicated to exploring the role of artificial intelligence in graphic design. The event brought together a distinguished group of specialists and industry practitioners, and was attended by faculty members and female students of the program.
The seminar featured presentations by Mr. Ahmed Al-Ward, Mr. Mohammed Al-Mahdi, and Ms. Roa Al-Aslami, who shared practical insights and professional experiences on the integration of artificial intelligence technologies in graphic design and multimedia. They also highlighted prominent applications and advanced tools that have transformed contemporary creative work environments.
One of the key topics discussed during the seminar was a question frequently raised within professional circles: Can artificial intelligence replace the graphic designer? The participants unanimously agreed that AI serves as a supportive tool that enhances designers’ efficiency and accelerates various stages of the creative process. However, they emphasized that it cannot replace creative designers who possess the ability to think critically, analyze, innovate, and generate original ideas.
The speakers further noted that the real impact of artificial intelligence will be felt by designers who rely solely on traditional methods and fail to keep pace with rapid technological advancements. In contrast, designers who continuously develop their skills and effectively utilize modern technologies will remain more competitive and innovative.
They stressed that the future of design lies in the integration of human creativity and artificial intelligence capabilities rather than in competition between the two.
The participants also showcased their practical experiences using AI-powered applications in the production of graphic and multimedia projects. They presented examples of professional and academic work, introduced several specialized AI design platforms and websites, and explained how to utilize these tools, subscribe to their services, and benefit from the features they offer to designers.
The seminar witnessed active engagement from the students, who enriched the discussion through questions and inquiries regarding the future of the profession, the skills required to adapt to ongoing technological transformations, and effective ways to employ AI tools to enhance the quality of creative work while preserving artistic identity.
The “Tech Nano” seminar concluded with the recognition of the speakers in appreciation of their valuable contributions and practical insights. This initiative reflects the commitment of the Graphic Design and Multimedia Program to organizing scientific events that keep pace with the latest technological developments and contribute to preparing qualified graduates capable of meeting the demands of the labor market and the digital content industry.
