Hudaidah — The Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance at the University of Science and Technology (UST) organized the training workshop titled “Preparing Learning Outcomes-Based Exams and Course Reports Using the Smart Template,” targeting faculty members at the UST Hudaidah Branch.
The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Amin Al-Kastaban, Dean of Development and Quality Assurance at the University’s Main Center in Sana’a, in the presence of the Financial and Administrative Director, Dr. Ahmed Abdulkhaliq, the Officer of the Development and Quality Assurance Unit at the Branch, Eng. Majed Al-Ajibi, heads of scientific and academic departments, and faculty members.
The meeting discussed a number of issues related to academic development and quality assurance, foremost among them the mechanisms for activating learning outcomes in the design of courses and exams, and the most prominent challenges facing faculty members in preparing question banks and course reports, along with ways to address them.
The participants also reviewed the Branch’s plan to complete the application of the Smart Template across various courses during the next semester, and the mechanisms for activating Peer Review in a way that contributes to raising the quality of exams and enhancing quality assurance practices, in addition to discussing developmental proposals to strengthen coordination between the Development and Quality Unit and the scientific departments to achieve continuous improvement.
The meeting also addressed ways to involve the Hudaidah Branch in the initiatives and projects included within the University’s new strategy currently being prepared at the Main Center in Sana’a.
The participants emphasized the importance of continuing to organize qualitative workshops and training programs, given their role in developing academic performance and enhancing quality practices in the educational and assessment process.
The Branch Administration affirmed its keenness to provide the environment and capabilities necessary to enable faculty members to apply quality standards and develop academic assessment tools.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Amin Al-Kastaban praised the level of interaction of faculty members at the Hudaidah Branch, affirming the importance of translating the workshop’s outputs into applied practices that contribute to developing exams and course reports, and improving the quality of educational outputs and their alignment with academic accreditation requirements.
