Sana’a – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Science and Technology (UST) organized an extensive academic orientation meeting on Sunday for newly admitted female students for the 2026/2027 academic year. The event was held in the Grand Hall of the Female Students’ Branch and was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Abdullah Al-Makhlafi, vice deans, heads of academic departments, the leadership of the Female Students’ Branch, and academic coordinators.
The meeting was organized as part of the University’s commitment to preparing students for university life and introducing them to academic programs, specializations, regulations, study requirements, and training opportunities in the medical and health sciences fields.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Abdullah Al-Makhlafi, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the new students and expressed his pleasure at their joining the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. He wished them a successful and distinguished academic journey, emphasizing that enrollment in medical and health sciences programs marks the beginning of a scientific and professional path that requires dedication, perseverance, discipline, and a continuous commitment to developing knowledge and skills.
Dr. Al-Makhlafi highlighted that studying medical and health sciences carries significant scientific and humanitarian responsibilities, given the vital role healthcare professionals play in serving society and enhancing the quality of healthcare services. He stressed the importance of building a strong scientific foundation from the outset of university studies and acquiring the practical and clinical skills necessary for future professional practice.
The Faculty’s vice deans encouraged students to take full advantage of the educational and training opportunities provided by the University, actively participate in scientific and practical activities that enhance their personal and professional development, benefit from academic advising services and office hours, and establish positive and productive relationships with faculty members. They reaffirmed the Faculty’s commitment to providing a supportive and motivating learning environment that integrates academic knowledge with practical application.
Medical and health sciences programs at UST continue to attract an increasing number of students, reflecting the University’s strong academic reputation and distinguished standing in medical education. The University offers a comprehensive educational and training environment that enables students to combine academic achievement with practical and clinical experience.
This growing demand reflects the confidence placed in the University’s academic programs and educational services, which contribute to preparing qualified medical and healthcare professionals capable of meeting labor market needs and serving the community effectively.
During the meeting, the vice deans and heads of academic departments presented an overview of the Faculty’s medical and health sciences programs, study plans, registration procedures, academic requirements, and practical and clinical training components. They also explained the academic regulations, policies, and guidelines that students are expected to understand and adhere to from the beginning of their university studies.
The orientation session further emphasized the importance of attendance, academic discipline, time management, and effectively organizing study requirements. Students were also introduced to academic advising services, office hours, scientific and student activities, and the various services offered by the University and the Faculty throughout their academic journey.
The meeting witnessed active engagement from the new students, who were given the opportunity to raise questions regarding academic programs, training opportunities, and university life.
