Sana’a – Prof. Al-Qasim Mohammed Abbas, President of the University of Science and Technology (UST), honored a distinguished group of students from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences who achieved outstanding results in the USMLE Step 1 examination administered by the American educational organization. The recognition took place during a ceremony organized by the Faculty in cooperation with the Student Advising Unit.
In his remarks during the ceremony held on Monday, Prof. Al-Qasim Abbas congratulated the students on this remarkable achievement, praising their success in one of the most prominent international medical examinations. He noted that the USMLE Step 1 is a fundamental requirement for medical licensure in the United States and an important benchmark for assessing the competence of medical graduates worldwide.
Prof. Al-Qasim Abbas emphasized that this accomplishment reflects the quality and strength of UST’s academic outcomes and the international recognition of its graduates. He also highlighted the University’s continuous efforts to enhance students’ academic and practical competencies.
The University President offered valuable advice to the honorees, encouraging them to pursue lifelong learning, remain open to emerging developments in medicine, continue strengthening their scientific and clinical skills, and take advantage of educational and training opportunities available around the world.

The ceremony also honored Mohammed Amin Al-Sharmani for the acceptance of his research at the International Forum on Quality and Safety 2026 in Oslo, Norway.
The event was attended by Prof. Noaman Al-Najjar, Vice President of the University; Prof. Abdullah Al-Makhlafi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences; Dr. Mahdi Al-Qarawani, Vice Dean for Clinical Training and Hospitals Affairs; Dr. Mujahid Nassar, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs; and Mr. Fathi Al-Matari, Coordinator of Student Advising at the Faculty. The attendees expressed their pride in the students’ accomplishments and the University’s continued distinction at international academic forums.
