Sana’a – The Deanship of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Science and Technology (UST) held an expanded meeting today for faculty and staff members, chaired by Dr. Abdullah Abdo Al-Makhlafi, Dean of the Faculty.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Al-Makhlafi welcomed the participants and commended their significant efforts in advancing the educational process within the Faculty. He noted that these efforts have resulted in a series of achievements and sustained excellence that the Faculty has maintained throughout various stages and circumstances.
The Dean expressed special appreciation to all faculty and staff members for their contributions to the successful implementation of the summer semester, which witnessed strong student enrollment and participation. He emphasized that this success reflects the effectiveness of academic advising and the quality of planning and execution, stressing the importance of maintaining these efforts until the semester is completed successfully.
Dr. Al-Makhlafi also emphasized the need to expedite the renewal of the self-study evaluation for the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery Program in accordance with the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), in preparation for the program’s international accreditation requirements. He noted that the program had previously obtained local accreditation from the Yemeni Academic Accreditation Council as the first program in Yemen to be evaluated according to WFME standards.
He further directed the prompt completion and submission of self-study reports for the Faculty’s three health sciences programs: Clinical Nutrition, Medical Laboratory Sciences, and Diagnostic Radiologic Technology and Medical Imaging, as part of the process toward obtaining academic accreditation for these programs.
The Dean stressed the importance of exerting every effort to enhance the University’s performance across all areas and strengthen its institutional reputation. He also encouraged active participation in scientific and research platforms to support the University’s global rankings and maintain its distinguished position.
Dr. Al-Makhlafi called upon all Faculty members to update and complete their profiles across various academic and research platforms to contribute to improving the University’s standing in future evaluations and rankings.
The meeting included an open discussion during which participants expressed their enthusiasm for advancing the Faculty and its academic programs and reaffirmed their commitment to achieving strategic objectives, particularly obtaining local accreditation for the health sciences programs and international accreditation for the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery Program.
Participants also expressed their appreciation to the University leadership, headed by Prof. Al-Qasim Mohammed Abbas, President of the University, for the continued support provided to the Faculty and its members.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Mujahid Nassar, Vice Dean for Student Affairs; Dr. Munira Abdulwahab, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs; Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sabl, Vice Dean for Health Sciences; in addition to the heads of academic departments.
