Sana’a — The President of the University of Science and Technology (UST), Prof. Al‑Qasim Mohammed Abbas, received today the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hassan Al‑Sa‘di, and the Minister of Health and Environment, Prof. Ali Abdulkarim Shiban, during an official inspection visit to the university.
The meeting addressed a range of academic and educational issues relevant to both ministries, including quality assurance, institutional and program accreditation, and the introduction of new postgraduate programs in medical specialties. Among the initiatives discussed were the Clinical Doctorate (MD) program and a Master’s program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The talks also emphasized strengthening clinical training and practical application for postgraduate students in public and private hospitals, with the aim of improving graduate competencies and enhancing the quality of healthcare services.
The ministers were briefed by Prof. Abbas on UST’s efforts to advance the quality of education and its future plans to expand and develop academic programs. These include the introduction of bridging programs across several disciplines to meet labor market needs and raise the level of academic outcomes.
Both ministers commended the distinguished performance of UST graduates and the university’s academic and scientific achievements. They highlighted UST’s contribution to supplying the Yemeni and regional markets with qualified professionals, particularly in medical fields. They also welcomed the university’s initiatives to launch bridging programs and reaffirmed the importance of admitting students into the pharmacy program.
The ministers pledged their ministries’ support for UST’s efforts in serving education and health, expressing readiness to overcome any challenges the university may face in fulfilling its academic and societal mission. They praised the strength of UST’s graduates and the recognition of its degrees at national, regional, and international levels.
For his part, Prof. Abbas expressed gratitude for the ministers’ visit, reaffirming the university’s commitment to continuously developing its academic programs in service of Yemeni society and to raising the efficiency of higher education outcomes.
