Sana’a – The Higher Education Sector at the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, in collaboration with the University of Science and Technology (UST) in Sana’a, organized the Individual Sports Championship featuring table tennis, billiards, and badminton. The tournament saw broad participation from 20 public and private universities and community colleges and will continue for three days.

During the opening ceremony held today at UST’s sports hall, Prof. Hatem Al-Da’is, Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, emphasized the importance of university sports activities in fostering positive competition and building well-balanced student personalities. He praised the excellent organization and the wide participation of universities and community colleges, expressing the ministry’s aspirations to expand these championships annually to include university staff and faculty members.
Prof. Nouman Al-Najjar, Vice President of UST, welcomed the delegations participating in the championship, noting that hosting the event aligns with the university’s vision to support comprehensive student activities, encourage athletic talents, and strengthen partnerships with higher education institutions.
The first day of the championship witnessed an enthusiastic and competitive atmosphere among participants, marked by outstanding organization and strong engagement.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Abdulkarim Al-Dhahhak, Director General of Activities at the Ministry; Mr. Salah Al-Aghbari, Director of Student Affairs at UST; Mr. Abduljabbar Al-Muayyad, Deputy Director of Marketing, Public Relations, and Media; along with representatives of participating universities, tournament referees, and members of UST’s Student Affairs Administration.
