The President of the University of Science and Technology (UST) in Sana’a, Prof. Al-Qasim Mohammed Abbas, honored a group of distinguished students from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences who excelled in the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE-S1) exam administered by the American Educational Organization. The ceremony was organized by the college’s administration in collaboration with the Student Guidance Department.
In his speech during the ceremony held on Monday, Prof. Al-Qasim Abbas congratulated the students on this remarkable achievement, praising their success in passing one of the most prominent international medical examinations, which is considered a key requirement for practicing medicine in the United States and an important global benchmark for assessing the competence of medical graduates.
Prof. Abbas noted that this success reflects the strength and quality of UST’s academic output and its international recognition, highlighting the university’s efforts to enhance the academic and practical standards of its students.
He also offered valuable advice to the honored students, urging them to continue seeking knowledge, embrace modern medical advancements, develop their scientific and practical skills, and take advantage of all educational and training opportunities worldwide that contribute to their professional growth.

Additionally, student Mohammed Amin Al-Shurmani was honored for having his research accepted at the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Oslo, Norway, for the year 2026.
The ceremony was attended by UST Vice President Prof. Numan Al-Najjar, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences Prof. Abdullah Al-Mukhlafi, Vice Dean for Clinical Training and Hospitals Dr. Mahdi Al-Qarwani, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Mujahid Nassar, and Student Guidance Officer Mr. Fath Al-Matari, all of whom expressed pride in the students’ achievements and the university’s distinction in international forums.
