Sana’a – Prof. Al-Qasim Mohammed Abbas, President of the University of Science and Technology (UST) in Sana’a, together with Prof. Abdullah Al-Mukhlafi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, inaugurated on Saturday and Sunday, January 3–4, 2026, the Third Field Training Exhibition for fourth-year students of the Medicine and Surgery program. The event was organized by the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
During the opening and his tour of the exhibitions, the University President expressed his admiration for the exhibits and the content of the field training and health education projects. He praised the students’ efforts in conducting high-quality field studies and implementing health awareness campaigns in various workplaces across the capital, Sana’a, reflecting their level of understanding and practical application of what they have learned during their studies.
Prof. Al-Qasim Abbas emphasized that the exhibition embodies the university’s practical approach of linking theoretical knowledge with real-world application. It demonstrates the development of students’ skills in addressing community health issues with high professionalism. He noted that the outcomes of the training and field studies represent significant scientific value, contributing to health development plans and promoting community awareness. He urged students and their supervisors to publish the results of these field studies in the Faculty’s Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences, calling for the reactivation of the journal and the inclusion of student research.
The exhibitions featured specialized presentations on major health problems identified by students during fieldwork in factories, companies, care centers, and other workplaces. This year’s focus was on occupational and chronic diseases and proposed solutions, in addition to showcasing the results of health awareness campaigns carried out by students during their training period.
The field training course aims to equip students with extensive research and practical skills, enhance effective community engagement, and foster teamwork and collaboration among students of the Faculty.
The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Amin Al-Kustaban, Dean of Development and Quality Assurance; Dr. Mahdi Al-Qurwani, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Clinical Training and Hospitals Affairs; along with several faculty members and leaders of the female students’ branch.
