Sana’a – The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Science and Technology (UST) held a workshop today to review and approve the “English for International Business Communication” program, with the participation of a number of academics, experts, and representatives of relevant official entities. This comes as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to develop its academic offerings and introduce specialized programs that meet labor market demands.
The workshop discussed the program’s mission, objectives, intended learning outcomes, and study plan, in addition to reviewing the knowledge and skills students are expected to acquire—enhancing their career prospects in business, international trade, and institutional communication across local, regional, and global work environments.
In his remarks during the workshop, Prof. Munther Ishaq, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, emphasized that the English for International Business Communication program represents a qualitative addition to the university’s academic portfolio. He noted that it is the first program of its kind in the Republic of Yemen, given its specialized content that integrates English language studies with business, trade, and international communication.
He further explained that the program differs from other English language programs, as it is designed according to a modern vision that focuses on developing practical and applied skills alongside theoretical knowledge, enabling graduates to acquire both linguistic and professional competencies required by the contemporary labor market.
For his part, Prof. Ali Al‑Ward, Head of the English Department, highlighted that the program places significant emphasis on practical training and professional applications. This approach contributes to preparing qualified graduates capable of effective communication in international business environments and keeping pace with rapid developments in trade, investment, and professional relations at both local and global levels.
