Sana’a – Students of the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Science and Technology (UST), discussed their graduation project in Reinforced Concrete, titled “Integration of Structural Design and Concrete Technology.”

The project aims to present a comprehensive engineering study beginning with materials technology through the design of high‑performance concrete mixes, moving to conventional structural design for residential buildings, and concluding with advanced engineering challenges related to protecting high‑rise towers from seismic risks.
The project supervisor, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al‑Amoudi, affirmed that the work reflects an advanced level of structural design, scientific understanding, and the ability to translate academic outcomes into practical applications.
The discussion committee—comprising Prof. Ziyad Mutahar Al‑Jubboubi and Dr. Ali Mohsen Ziyad—praised the added value of the project, noting that it does not focus on a single design aspect but instead provides students with comprehensive professional preparation.
The students explained that their project goes beyond designing a building; it offers a model of engineers capable of determining mix proportions in concrete laboratories, applying them in real‑world projects, and protecting structures against hazards.
At the conclusion of the discussion, the project received strong commendation from the committee, which emphasized the importance of the applied integration demonstrated between theory and implementation.
