Sana’a – Under the patronage and in the presence of Prof. Al-Qassem Mohammed Abbas, President of the University, the Communication and Interpersonal Skills Program and the Occupational Health and Safety Program were concluded today at the Center for Consulting and Development at the University of Science and Technology. The two programs were implemented by the University in cooperation with the Skills Development Fund as part of the project to train and develop the capabilities of Yemeni workers seeking employment abroad, within the framework of joint efforts aimed at enhancing the readiness of national cadres and raising their competitiveness in regional and international labor markets.

The event was attended by several leaders from the University and the Skills Development Fund, reflecting the level of institutional coordination and the shared commitment to ensuring the success of this national project.
In his speech during the closing ceremony, the President of the University congratulated the trainees on completing the two training programs, praising the efforts of the preparation and implementation teams, and commending the active role of the Skills Development Fund in supporting the project and financing its training activities. He emphasized that the two programs represent an important foundational stage in the qualification pathway, paving the way for the launch of specialized, high-quality programs that will be designed according to the nature of professions and the qualifications of participants, ensuring alignment between training outcomes and the needs of labor markets locally and abroad.
Prof. Al-Qassem Abbas noted that the University’s adoption of this project stems from its recognition of the importance of supporting expatriates and equipping them with the necessary training tools that enable them to compete for suitable employment opportunities. He affirmed that expatriates constitute a vital pillar of the national economy through their financial remittances and developmental contributions.
He further explained that employment opportunities for Yemeni professionals are not limited to Gulf markets, but also extend to European markets, Australia, and Canada, where demand for qualified labor continues to increase. He highlighted the high regard Yemeni workers receive due to their skill and dedication, citing the presence of Yemeni labor in major international companies and factories—including automobile manufacturing plants in the United States—as evidence of their competence and international competitiveness.
Prof. Al-Qassem Abbas stressed the importance of Yemeni workers abroad upholding professional and ethical values that positively represent their homeland, while drawing on the successful experiences of other Arab expatriate communities.
He also instructed the relevant departments to establish a sustainable mechanism to ensure ongoing communication with trainees and benefit from their feedback and suggestions, contributing to the development of a comprehensive strategy to advance the project and expand its scope in terms of target groups, program diversity, and quality.
The event concluded with the honoring of the trainees and the awarding of participation certificates, in an atmosphere filled with optimism and ambition to continue the qualification and development journey in the upcoming stages of this national project.
