The College of Engineering at the University of Science and Technology (UST) held a scientific workshop today aimed at developing and enhancing the College’s academic program plans.
The workshop brought together heads of academic departments and program coordinators under the leadership of Prof. Adnan Al-Mutawakel, Dean of the College. Discussions focused on updating academic program plans in line with the unified curriculum approved by the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research.
Participants reviewed several key topics related to academic program development, including the evaluation of current study plans, updating course content to keep pace with scientific and technological advancements, and improving learning outcomes while strengthening their alignment with labor market needs.
The discussions also addressed mechanisms for standardizing common courses across academic departments in order to enhance academic integration, reduce duplication in course content, and improve the efficiency of the educational process within the College.
The workshop concluded with a number of important recommendations and outcomes, most notably the emphasis on ensuring that program plans comply with the approved ministerial framework, integrating shared courses across departments, and establishing follow-up mechanisms to ensure the implementation of the proposed updates according to a defined timeline.
The workshop reflects the College of Engineering’s commitment to the continuous development of its academic programs, enhancing educational quality, and ensuring that its graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to meet evolving professional and industry demands.
