Sana’a – In the presence of a large official and public audience, the University of Science and Technology (UST) celebrated today the graduation of nearly 1,000 bachelor’s degree students from a wide range of medical, engineering, technological, administrative, and humanities disciplines for the 2025–2026 academic year, with broad participation from government officials and academic leaders.
During the ceremony, Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hassan Al-Saadi, congratulated the graduates and their families, commending their dedication, perseverance, and hard work throughout their years of study. He emphasized that graduation marks the beginning of a new phase in which graduates will contribute to nation-building and community service.
The Minister noted that graduating such a large number of qualified professionals in specialized fields reflects the ability of educational institutions to continue fulfilling their mission despite the challenges and exceptional circumstances facing the country. He highlighted UST as one of the leading institutions in this regard, recognized for the quality and credibility of its graduates at the local, regional, and international levels. He also stressed that the graduates represent a valuable addition to the labor market through the knowledge, competencies, and values they possess.
Mr. Al-Saadi encouraged the graduates to pursue their academic and professional journeys with confidence and to actively contribute to national development. He also praised the efforts of the university leadership, faculty members, and staff for their role in preparing and qualifying national talents.
For his part, Prof. Al-Qasim Mohammed Abbas, President of UST, congratulated the graduates on their achievement, emphasizing that the university has, over the course of thirty-three years of leadership and excellence, solidified its position among Yemen’s leading private universities and contributed significantly to the preparation of scientifically and professionally qualified graduates across various disciplines.
Prof. Al-Qasim Abbas highlighted UST’s distinguished academic standing at both the national and Arab levels as the first private university in Yemen to supply the country and the region with thousands of highly qualified professionals in diverse fields. He also reflected on the challenges and difficulties the university has faced in recent years and how they were successfully overcome through the collective efforts of its academic staff, administrators, and students.
He further explained that obtaining a university degree is not the end of the journey but rather the beginning of a new stage that requires continuous learning, specialization, and innovation in a world that recognizes only those capable of creating positive change through knowledge, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
The UST President also expressed his appreciation to faculty members and administrative and technical staff, while acknowledging the vital role played by the graduates’ families in supporting their children throughout their academic journey.
The ceremony included a graduates’ address delivered by Ahmed Al-Qahtani in Arabic and Afnan Qiran in English. They emphasized the importance of education in the advancement of nations and expressed their gratitude to the university, faculty members, and their families for the support and guidance that enabled them to reach this important milestone.
The event also featured the Medical Oath Ceremony, where graduates of the medical colleges, accompanied by Dr. Abdullah Al-Mukhlafi, Dean of the College of Medicine, pledged their commitment to professional ethics and to serving humanity and society with integrity and dedication.
The ceremony concluded with the honoring of graduates and outstanding students who had earned the USMLE Step 1 certification, through the presentation of certificates of appreciation and commemorative shields. Individuals who contributed to sponsoring and ensuring the success of the ceremony were also recognized.
Among the attendees were Prof. Hatem Al-Dais, Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research; Prof. Mujahid Ma’sar, President of 21 September University; presidents of several public and private universities; UST’s academic and administrative leadership, including Prof. Noaman Al-Najjar, Vice President of the University; Dr. Fouad Hanash, Secretary-General of the University; presidential advisors Prof. Ali Yahya Sharaf Al-Din and Prof. Huda Al-Emad; as well as a large gathering of graduates’ families and relatives.
