Master's Program in Oral Surgery and Dental Implants

The College of Dentistry at the University of Science and Technology (UST) offers the Master of Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The program is designed to build upon students’ undergraduate education and clinical experience. It was initially launched in collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry at Tanta University in Egypt during the period from 2008 to 2012, during which two cohorts graduated, comprising approximately 30 students from various dental specialties. The College of Dentistry subsequently continued to develop the program independently, leading to the graduation of two additional cohorts, with around 40 students from different dental specialties.

The program aims to enhance students’ critical thinking and research skills, improve healthcare outcomes, and address community-related dental health challenges. Accordingly, the program seeks to equip students with the necessary competencies to manage a wide range of oral surgical interventions and to qualify them to perform advanced dental implant surgery procedures.
The program evolved from a comprehensive program in 2014 into a precise and independent specialty in 2021. The high quality of education delivered by the program has resulted in the graduation of 15 specialized surgeons trained in the latest dental implant technologies.
The Master’s Program in Clinical Dentistry / Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery aims to develop students’ academic and research skills and to enhance the quality of community dental healthcare services.
