It will provide students with an intensive written and spoken- practice that, not only can ensure eradicating those problems, but also can help translators and interpreters not to produce them. Different types of English texts with their erroneous Arabic translation and/or interpretation will be studied carefully with special emphasis on the translational problems resulted from the lack of Arabic proficiency. Practical sessions, discussions and problem-solving will be some of the teaching strategies that will be used throughout the course. |

It focuses on the use of legal and business terminology and style through the translation and discussion of a variety of legal and business texts used in the labor market. The course also prepares students to join the labor market equipped with skills required when translating legal and business documents. The course will cover laws, commercial correspondence, business contracts, letters of credit and many other types of documents. Group discussion, practical sessions and class presentations are examples of teaching strategies that will be used during the course. Arabic Proficiency for Translators; Advance English Grammar; Approaches to Translation; Translation Technology; and Comparative Linguistics are pre-requisite courses for this course. |

This course aims at providing students with sufficient knowledge about the nature of literary and religious translation, their characteristics, difficulties and ways of approaching literary and religious texts in translation. Of course, the course will not be only theoretical; rather, every theoretical aspect is subjected to actual practical translation exercises by the students. Therefore, well selected literary materials, English-Arabic and Arabic-English, (religious texts, e. g Qura'anic and Biblical verses, Hadiths and religious sayings and passages along with their translations will be studied. Besides, poems, short stories, acts of some plays and chapters of novels along with their translations are to be studied.) Arabic Proficiency for Translators and Advance English Grammar are pre-requisite courses, whereas Current Issues in Translation is a co-requisite course. Discussions, practical sessions and presentations are some of the techniques that will be used during the course. |

The course aims at providing intensive practice in interpreting from English to Arabic and vice versa. When doing the interpreting, the students receive "as if real" professional interpreting situations. Students will learn how to behave, listen and talk like professional interpreters. They will develop short term memory building and exercising strategies, reading capabilities and note - taking techniques for interpreting. Through using tools such as projectors, interpreting lab, students are expected to go training individually and in groups.
