This course attempts to familiarize students with media style, format and features to be translated. In addition, it will enhance students' translation skills with respect to Arabic-English media translation and further familiarize them with the dimensions that characterize this type of translation. The course also offers a wide range of news materials through which students can tackle various problems that they may face.

Students are expected to hand in home and class assignments, individually and in groups. Several subject such as; Arabic Proficiency for Translators and Approaches to Translation are prerequisites for this subject.

This course aims at familiarizing students with the most common and essential problems that can hinder or minimize the adequacy of their translation because of their inadequate proficiency in standard Arabic. This course introduces students to the field of legal discourse, which is fairly different from other types of discourse, as well as the language of business. It focuses on the use of legal and business terminology and style through the translation and discussion of a variety of legal and business texts used in the labor market.

The course also prepares students to join the labor market equipped with skills required when translating legal and business documents. The course will cover laws, commercial correspondence, business contracts, letters of credit and many other types of documents. Group discussion, practical sessions and class presentations are examples of teaching strategies that will be used during the course.

This course aims at providing students with sufficient knowledge about the nature of literary and religious translation, their characteristics, difficulties and ways of approaching literary and religious texts in translation. Of course, the course will not be only theoretical; rather, every theoretical aspect is subjected to actual practical translation exercises by the students.

Therefore, well selected literary materials, English-Arabic and Arabic-English, (religious texts, e. g Qura'anic and Biblical verses, Hadiths and religious sayings and passages along with their translations will be studied. Besides, poems, short stories, acts of some plays and chapters of novels along with their translations are to be studied.) Arabic Proficiency for Translators and Advance English Grammar are pre-requisite courses, whereas Current Issues in Translation is a co-requisite course.

Discussions, practical sessions and presentations are some of the techniques that will be used during the course.

This is the main course in postgraduate study. It provides students with the basic information and skills that enable them to pursue their post graduate studies. It enriches their background about types different types of research, including quantitative, qualitative, experimental, descriptive and survey research.

It qualifies students to specify research problems, questions and objectives. Enables then to determine, develop ans implement tools for data gathering. The course is presented through lecturing, class discussions, brainstorming and students' presentation. Finally, it is assessed through written exams, paper presentations and assignments.

The course aims at providing intensive practice in interpreting from English to Arabic and vice versa. When doing the interpreting, the students receive "as if real" professional interpreting situations. Students will learn how to behave, listen and talk like professional interpreters. They will develop short term memory building and exercising strategies, reading capabilities and note - taking techniques for interpreting.

Through using tools such as projectors, interpreting lab, students are expected to go training individually and in groups. A prerequisite of this course is Arabic Proficiency for Translators and Translation Theories.
