Sana’a – The College of Pharmacy at the University of Science and Technology (UST) held distinguished scientific discussions for the graduation projects of its students, with the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Doaa Anwar Ibrahim, the Vice Dean, Prof. Jamil Al‑Dhabhani, the examination committees, and a number of faculty members.
The first research project, titled “Community Pharmacists’ Knowledge and Dispensing Practices of Antipsychotic Medications in Sana’a City,” revealed—based on a study conducted in the capital Sana’a and involving 441 community pharmacists across various districts—that pharmacists generally possess an acceptable level of basic knowledge and demonstrate appropriate dispensing practices regarding antipsychotic agents.
However, the findings also highlighted noticeable gaps in advanced clinical understanding, particularly in managing emergency cases related to antipsychotic dispensing, monitoring side effects, and handling drug interactions.

The second group discussed a study titled “Knowledge and Attitudes of Pharmacy Students Toward Pharmacogenetics Among Universities in Sana’a City.” The research aimed to assess pharmacy students’ understanding and awareness of pharmacogenetics and its importance in improving treatment effectiveness and reducing adverse effects, in addition to exploring their views on integrating this modern discipline into academic curricula and future professional practice.
The third group presented research titled “Evaluation of the Effect of Juniper Ethanolic Extract on Selected Bacterial Species,” which aimed to investigate the antibacterial activity of juniper ethanolic extract against various bacterial strains.
The fourth research project, titled “Formulation and Evaluation of a Cream Prepared from Citrullus colocynthis Extract for Wound Healing in Rats,” aimed to assess the effectiveness of a topical cream formulated from colocynth extract in accelerating wound healing.
The examination committees praised the quality of the submitted research in terms of scientific methodology, analytical accuracy, and the rigor of recommendations. They emphasized the importance of studies aimed at discovering new natural substances with therapeutic potential and addressing the needs of the local healthcare community.
