Sana’a – Amid strong official and public attendance, the University of Science and Technology (UST) in Sana’a celebrated today the graduation of approximately 1,000 male and female students holding bachelor’s degrees across various disciplines, including medical, engineering, technological, administrative, and humanities fields, for the 2025–2026 academic year, with broad official and academic participation.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hassan Al-Saadi, congratulated the graduates and their families, praising their dedication and perseverance throughout their years of study. He emphasized that their graduation marks the beginning of a new phase in contributing to nation-building and serving society.
The Minister noted that graduating such a number of qualified national cadres in diverse specialties reflects the resilience of educational institutions in continuing their mission despite the challenges and exceptional circumstances facing the country. He highlighted UST as one of the leading and trusted institutions, both locally and regionally, in the quality of its graduates, affirming that they represent a valuable addition to the labor market with their knowledge, skills, and values.
He called on the graduates to continue their academic and professional journeys with confidence and to contribute to national development, commending the efforts of the university’s leadership, faculty members, and staff for their role in preparing and qualifying national talent.
For his part, the President of the University of Science and Technology, Prof. Al-Qassim Mohammed Abbas, congratulated the graduates on their achievement. He stated that over thirty-three years of leadership and excellence, UST has established its position among private universities in Yemen and contributed to preparing academically and professionally qualified cadres in various disciplines.
Prof. Al-Qassim Mohammed Abbas also highlighted UST’s distinguished academic standing at both national and Arab levels as one of the first private universities to supply the country and the region with thousands of qualified graduates in different fields. He referred to the challenges the university has faced in recent times and how they were overcome through the collective efforts of its academic, administrative, and student community.
He explained that obtaining a university degree is not the end of the journey, but rather the beginning of a new phase that requires continuous learning, specialization, and innovation in a world that recognizes only those capable of creating change through knowledge, work, and ethics.
He also praised the efforts of faculty members and administrative and technical staff, as well as the crucial role played by graduates’ families in supporting their children throughout their academic journey.
The ceremony included a speech on behalf of the graduates, delivered by graduate Ahmed Al-Qahtani in Arabic and graduate Afnan Qiran in English. They emphasized the importance of education in national progress and expressed their gratitude to the university, faculty members, and their families for their support.
The event featured the medical graduates’ oath, performed by graduates of the medical faculties in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Abdullah Al-Makhlafi, affirming their commitment to professional ethics and dedicated service to humanity and society.
The ceremony concluded with the honoring of graduates and outstanding students, including those who obtained the American USMLE Step 1 certificate, with certificates of appreciation and shields. Recognition was also given to all contributors to the success of the event.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Hatem Al-Daees, the President of 21 September University, Prof. Mujahid Ma’sar, a number of presidents of public and private universities, and UST’s academic and administrative leadership, including the Vice President of the University, Prof. Noman Al-Najjar, the Secretary-General, Dr. Fouad Hanash, and the President’s advisors, Prof. Ali Yahya Sharaf Al-Din and Prof. Huda Al-Emad, as well as a large gathering of graduates’ families and relatives.
