BSc. in Artificial Intelligence
Due to its revolutionary proliferation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Has become one of the most important fields of computer science at University of Science and Technology (UST). It aims to learn machines to perform tasks instead of human intelligence, whether in learning, natural language processing, pattern recognition, problem solving, decision making, etc. Applications of AI are increasing rapidly, which affects our lives and the daily lives and ways in which we work. Students will be able to develop numerous AI systems using its subfields to suit the needs in several industrial sectors, and use its tools to create smarter solutions to many problems.
Produce qualified graduates who are academically, skillfully, and ethically prepared to become tomorrow’s leaders in the dynamic AI field, through a high-quality educational environment that fosters excellence in learning and personal development, effective partnership and direct connections to the industry, to fulfill AI labor market needs in Yemeni and regional society.
- Produce highly qualified academically, skillfully, and ethically graduates in the AI field.
- Fulfill the AI labor market needs in both Yemeni and regional society.
- Empower students with the theoretical, practical, and personal necessary skills to become tomorrow’s leaders in the AI field.
- Establish effective partnerships and direct connections to the industry in the AI field.
The computer science (CS) department at the University of Science and Technology (UST) is recognized as the first program in the country which started in September 1994 in the CS department, college of Engineering. Whereas The Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (CIT) was established independently in 2011 to fulfill the local and regional market needs.
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) program aims to provide the student with the knowledge, values, and skills that enable him/her to study, design, and develop machine simulation of human thinking, and understanding of his language, actions, and tasks he performs. It also deals with AI algorithms, expert systems, deep learning, what a robot is, and how to use it.
The program of AI at CIT faculty emerged in 2024 to fulfill the growing market needs for AI technology. The program satisfies the NARS2023 and international recommendations for AI curriculum and considers the community’s needs. The department staff is continuously working on updating the BSc. program to meet the latest technologies in AI and the fast-changing society’s needs. The program offers a Bachelor of Science degree in AI based on a modern four-year curriculum that provides a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of the areas of AI. The bachelor’s degree is awarded after successful completion of 133 credit hours. The program has several highly qualified faculty members specialized in a broad range of areas in the field of CS and AI.
